Frequently Asked Questions:
  • What can I expect from a Wine and Watercolour Session?
The main thing you can expect from a wine and watercolour session is a fun and creative evening.

Each session is led and created by Kiri Honey a former High School Art Teacher and Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate.

Kiri will provide all the necessary directions and guidance as well as all painting supplies including paint surface, paints, brushes, pens, and any additional supplies to create a selection of watercolour artworks.

Your experience will start by arriving and checking in at the venue 10-15 minutes beforehand. You will be welcomed by Kiri who will assist you in finding a seat. You will be invited to make yourself comfortable, prepare a beverage (BYO) and socialise with your peers before the session starts.

Each session will focus on creating a collection of watercolour surfaces that align with you and what you feel you need in the moment. You will learn to connect to your inner wisdom and follow what you feel you need inside of a safe space.

During each session you will be taught how to create specific patterns although you are welcome to create whatever feels right for you in the moment.
  • How much is it and what's included?
All Wine and Watercolour sessions are priced at $35 for individual tickets. This is a BYO event so wine is optional.

You will get to take home all your creations at the end of the evening.
  • What should I wear?
    I do not supply aprons.
I recommend bringing your own apron or wearing clothes you don't mind getting a drop of two of paint on. Please note watercolour paint washes out easily but splatters are likely.
  • How often will there be Wine and Watercolour Sessions?
Kiri Honey is likely to host one event every few months unless there is a lot of interest to host more.
  • Will they always be on the same days?
This will depend on interest from the community but for now these events will be held on Wednesdays.
  • Why Watercolour?
Kiri Honey has been developing an interest in watercolour in the last few years and it's therapeutic qualities. Watercolour is a medium that allows for lot of beautiful expression without requiring a great deal of skill or experience. The process Kiri teaches is about releasing control, enjoying the process and the moment, and watching the magic of the paint unfold on the surface.

Watercolour paint is a way to connect to yourself and what's important to you in a way you may have never experienced before.

There are so many benefits to spending time getting creative, releasing control and having fun which many of us have forgotten or simply don't prioritize. This is a way to bring it back.

It is also an invitation to those who don't see themselves as creative to play around with materials and see what they are capable of or simply to enjoy the process, learn to connect to their creative side and learn something new along the way.
  • Who should attend Play with Paint?
All welcome. Anyone who is interested in exploring watercolour and pattern making while connecting inward and releasing tension and stress is welcome to attend.

This is a BYO event. Alcohol will not be supplied, but you are welcome to bring your own.
  • It's called Wine and Watercolour. Do you provide wine?
Sadly no. Wine is simply an invitation to bring your own for the evening. I cannot sell wine without a license to do so.
Hi! I'm Kiri
I'm a confident communication coach for women specialising in reviving relationships through real and empowered communication. I believe that by unlocking your creative power you can unblock your voice and achieve the life you deeply desire.

I live in Hamurana, Rotorua with my 2 kids, husband, dog and chickens but I'm originally from Canada. I moved to New Zealand in 2008. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Ottawa, Canada and trained to be an Art Teacher at the University of Waikato.

I created Wine & Watercolour as a way to help local women reconnect with their creative side, unwind, and tap into the power that creative play can offer.

I hope to see you at our next Wine & Watercolour Wednesday.
